Modified Exhaust 27150 in CA
I drive a 2003 Nissan Sentra Spec V with Greddy Evo 2 ehaust system. Other then that my car is bone stock. I got pulled over in Sacramento, CA (by my house) driving speed limit by a CHP because I had a modified exhaust. She said "ALL modified exhaust is illegal." From my understanding Greddy exhaust are legal atleast the one that I have, that was why I bought it. I dont think my exhaust is loud, unless if I floor it. Before I got pulled over I was driving around 39-40mph in a 40mph zone. I was crusin in 4th gear around 2xxxRPM.

Keeping You Legal
GReddy maintains a full line of CARB exempt 50-state legal performance products in addition to the race only products designed and intended for off-highway use. Our street exhaust systems have been designed and tested to give you the maximum amount of performance and meet the SAE sound test of no more than 95dBA. Weather you are just looking for a little better performance from your street machine, or are going for all-out race performance, the only name you need to know is GReddy.

From the CHP website on the sticky, Im not sure when that site was updated
http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/streetlegal.html
Quote:
* Excessively noisy exhaust systems and mufflers (27150, 27151 VC). Many aftermarket exhaust systems and parts are illegal. Look for parts that meet California law. If it doesn't say it meets the law, it probably doesn't.
* Exhaust systems which meet smog requirements but are still too loud. Exhaust equipment that states it is, "Legal in all 50 states," refers to smog, not noise.
* Note: New law (27150.2 VC) does not require law enforcement to use sound level meters to test for excessive noise. Citation is based on officer's judgment. Cited violators may have testing done at smog referee stations or may be directed by the court to have testing done. Vehicles in violation must be brought into compliance. A fine may also be imposed.

My question is what did she really mean when she said "All modified exhaust is illegal". On the ticket, she citied me for the code (27150 LA?? Modifed exhaust) according to the site aboved, that my exhaust was too loud or it is not smog legal. Is there a new law that you cant modifie your exhaust period?
Im not mad at the CHP, she was just doing her job. She didnt yell at me or mistreated me like some of the other threads on this site. She didnt even ticket me for not having my registration aviable at the time. Im sure/hope that it is a mistake that she made and I can clear this up in court. If so how can I prove that she is wrong and I can keep my exhaust. I was told my the person from greddy (I called them) and Wolf (reading sticky #2) that I should contact the state ref and have my car checked for db/smog level. Will that still do the trick? Should I worry about this ticket?
