engine swaps in older cars-please help
Hello All,
I know this ist really the place for my car, but it seems like theres alot of smart people here that know the lawse unlike me. Heres my situation, im in california and Ive got a 1976 mustang II (told ya) and its currently got the 2.8 liter V6 in it. I have been working on the car since I was 15. It is equipped with smog equipment of the era, smog pump, cat, egr ect. I have a 1968 4.7L 289 to put in it that I have recently built, but im pretty sure that it will be an illegal swap. First of all, on my cars 30th birthday according to the DMV it is exempt from smog. BUT-does that mean that I can go with no smog equipment at all or do I have to use smog equipment of the same year even if my car is exempt from the laws in Jan, and when i drop the V8 in, will I face any registration issues from the swap of 6 to 8? thanks alot in advance.
James
