today, i was heading towards s. sf from sj on 101 north. i was in the second to the far left lane coasting at a smooth 77mph in a 65mph zone. i know it's past the speed limit but i was going the same speed as everyone else. hell, the left lane next to me, everyone was speeding right by me. so my exit is coming up in about 1/2 mile so i start switching lanes, slowly, turning signal, the whole nine yards!!! dint break a single law cept coasting at 77mph. so i get one lane over right not gasing or braking. one more lane over to the right, slightly pressing the gas pedal so i could keep up with the traffic in the lane next to me so i could merge and exit. the reason i did this is b/c this was in s. sf at 12:43pm, lunch time=traffic!!!! all i was trying to do was keep up with traffic so no one would rear end me but not fast enough so i rear end someone else. so the chp pops up from the ramp from an exit, catches up to me and "paces" at 78mph!!!! at this point, i wasn't even gasing b/c the exit is 1/4 mile away from me!!! i can literally see the sign to get off on the freeway that says "exit only." why would i speed in the super slow lane while trying to exit in traffic?!?!?! so this cop says i was doing 78mph in a 65mph b/c he paced me but i wasn't!!! i wasn't even on the gas b/c the exit was coming up so i was obviously slowing down from the road!!! wth?!!?!!? even my friend said i wasn't speeding and this is bs. is there anyways to fight this? things such as maintaining a safe speed on the freeway despite the obvious speed above the limit? or how could he pace me when he just got on the freeway? do i really deserve this? i need all the help i can get b/c this is the first time i will say i dint mess up. i got tickets before and would shit in my pants b/c of the punishment, but i knew it was my fault. this time, the system plan and flat out sucks. there were so many other worse traffic violations around me but the cop decided to pull someone over who was doing 13mph over the limit.
