With the extreme growth and interest in Drifting growing exponentially, Drifting is now being touted as the second fastest growing automotive sport. International Drifting Championship Racing (IDCR) has determined the need to bring a more standardized event format to the sport in order to provide a structure that will continue its rapid growth.
Currently IDCR sanctions over 18 different Drifting groups around the US and Canada for a combined schedule in 2007 of 121 sanctioned and insured events. Just in the past 5 months alone we have sanctioned and operated over 23 drifting events around the US and Canada. We look at our growth in such a short time in that it has filled the need to provide a uniformly safe standard to the sport of drifting and to ensure the performance of each event. It allows the local drivers a place to run against drivers all across the USA and Canada without the travel time or expense.
Most drivers do not maintain large sponsors or the ability to take days off from work but they can make it to a close race on the weekend and that's where the Touring Series comes in.
How the Series Works
Each Driver competes in his local Division for points at each race that he is awarded. If he/she is in the top 8 drivers in his division after the four points races he/she then gets moved onto the Regional Race. The best 8 Drivers from each Region move on to the Championship Race in California. To make it easy on the drivers IDCR has signed an agreement with a Enclosed Transport company to Provide Transport for all Drivers headed to the Championship Race in California at No charge.
Experience & Safety
With over 227 successful events produced and run without incident or accidents by our Divisional Directors and Affiliates, International Drift Championship Racing is the world leader in safety. Where others may claim they run safe events only IDCR can stand by its record and back it up. IDCR operates with its own group of safety and tech personal to provide safety oversight and guidance at each sanctioned event. International Drift Championship Racing Divisional Directors and affiliates have over 37 years of combined experience in operating safe, efficient and quality drifting events. We have worked with some of the largest facilities across the world and will continue to do so this year.
Solo Series Events
Additionally there will be 24 Solo competition dates held in Indiana, NY, Washington State and New England for those without cages or not ready for Tandem. More solo dates will be added and released later as they get finalized. Watch the website for Details.
