Car broke down on hwy- hit by Snapple company car- what now?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
anyways,
my sr20DE----T sentra broke down on 87 freeway here under the 280 bridge here in san Jose, cA right before the Santa Clara st exit.
I had my friend follow me cuz I was going to drop it off at a buddy's shop redzone to get he new motor put in. I knew the old one was going to pop.
Jeremy from redzone said he'd go later on that night to pick it up in the race car trailer n truck. So I gave him the keys. Later on that night I drove by in my other car and it was gone so I figured Jeremy picked it up
next day I gave Jeremy a call and asked if he got the car, he said he looked up and down 87 and didn’t find anything and no one else picked it up. I thought it was odd because I figured they gave you 72 hrs before they tow the car. But they towed it under 5 hrs.
So I called CHP. Turns out they towed it, I found out what company towed it n called them etc...turns out they're not open on weekends
I got a letter following Monday about my “stored vehicle" and I went thought he list it said my tires were worn and or flat etcc. and also in the “wrecked" box there was a check... I thought what the fuck ...
so I go down to nuimage towing with Jeremy with the truck n trailer. got there at 4:45 and they were closed. they close at 5. so I called them and a dispatcher picked up I said I was there to pick up my car. etcc and no one was there, they said they’ll send someone down and I got to pay the 65$ after hrs fee, but I said it’s not after hrs. and your clock inside is wrong. all of the ppl that were with me. cell phones said 4:45 so I shouldn’t be charged she said ill be charged anyways. I was a little heated then. and then she asked how I was going to get it back. I said I got a truck n enclosed trailer to pick it up. they asked me why my car was towed I said. it broke down and it was on the freeway. all the way to the corner.
she told me to hold on and contacted the tow truck driver who picked up my car. she informed me... your cars wrecked. I was like wrecked? Wtf..how .. wrecked is wrecked . she said... it’s totaled. I was FLAAAAAMED by then.
10 min later the tow guy gets here. he stays by his door and signals me to walk over. he was like yo man .. you’re not going to like what you see. it’s going to be painful . I said... what ?? dude I just parked my car there. so you’re telling me someone ran into me ? he was like yeah ... your car ended up over on the center divider. I was like holy shit. I was parked all the way to the right. cuz I knew the left was for emergency lanes only.
so he opens the gate and I walk around the corner and my jaw just drops. my rear wheel is pretty much lodged into my front driver seat. the whole back of the car is lifted up like a big booty mamma. I should see the whole underside just standing 2 feet away from it. windows are all shattered and my exhaust is cooked and trunk bent outta shape etcc.
I was pretty much so pissed I was going to kill someone. then he tells me . yea man that car right there hit you . I look over ..
and it’s a Snapple company car .. a geo metro .
the tow guy tells me the guy went to the hospital etcc. he said if he was me. he would sue them. n get money for all the damages.
SO. I wrote down all the info
I got the Snapple car number,. I got the vin number. and license plate
question here is....
`1- how the hell do I go about doing this>? I got liability insurance only do I just hand the info to my insurance agent ? or contact Snapple?
2- how the hell do I contact Snapple?
3- why didn’t CHP or anyone inform me my shit was totaled and involved in a major accident. etcc ?
4- what would you guys do about this ?
p.s. god must be watching over me. cuz the car was hit 10 min after I left. and before that I was in front of the car, inside the car or right next to the car ..
