Tme to post up your lame excuses for being pwn3d, here is mine!!!
I own a motorbike (TL1000S) which is far from the fastest bike outhere, and although I am not really a street racer I do enjoy a play from time to time with the odd car or bike when the opportunity presents itself. I mostly prefer playing with fast/modded cars as it can be an interesting comparison if the car is of a particular calibre.
Not suprisingly, of all the cars I have had a race with I have beaten them pretty badly but had a close run with a 600bhp Supra!! Ultimately the Supra would have won if the speeds got silly but this particular car was running bad and was not revving the last 1500rpm or so, and as a result was an easier kill. We exchanged numbers to re arrange but I never called the guy and he nver called me!
Bank to the point of the thread...
I have lost one race though that I should have Won. I was leaving a local biking meet (ACE CAFE) and sitting at the lights of a slip road that leads to a big A-road - similar to a freeway. My friend was astride his holeshot tuned (Turbo) gsxr1000 and beside us appeared an AMG Mercedes. To this day I am unsure what Merc it was but it was a convertable, black with 4 exhausts in pairs of 2 and I imagine was stock! The particular lights take an age to change green. My friend was well up for the race as was I but I was too busy admiring the car when all of a sudden the lights changed and both my friend and AMG launched!! I quickly followed and was in between the GSXR and AMG. The particular road has a nasty bumpy uneven surface with a bumpy crest about 30ft from the lights in the centre that makes launching a big bike difficult!! About 0.3 after both launched I followed - dumping the clutch a 8000rpm! I flew forward, at this point with the GSXR and AMG neck and neck about 30ft infront. I hit the said crest and my TL's front wheel was airborn in a serious way, I backed off and hooked second, now with the other 2 doing about 70mph.
My friend has longer than standard gearing on his Turbo GSXR and was still battling wheelies of his own in 1st gear from the power of his turbo -, at this point I hooked second and started eating into that 30ft advantage that both the AMG and GSXR had. What really screwed me was that the road only really has enough room for 2 cars side by side and gets slightlly narrower. As I was piggy in the middle and with the AMG and GSXR sandwiching me, I had to back off again slightly in fear of getting too close to both vehicles; I then re applied the throttle and hooked third and redlined up to about an indicated 120mph. The GSXR by the time I was hooking 4th was about 10bikes in front of the car - after being able to unleash his power through second and some of third. The the race was over as the slip road ended as we were onto a busy road! To this day my friend always gives me grief for that AMG spanking my bike and won't listen or accept my petty excuses! haha
I am sure that If I had a flat sooth road and was paying a bit more attention then I would have had the car without much problems. I have never been to a strip but have my Launching down to a fine art - Obviously not on bad road sufraces!!! haha It was amazing seeing the car launch, no wheelspin, it just dug in and fired off the line which took my friend by suprise. His turbo was on low boost of about 220bhp at the time but despite the longer gearing and my friends weight ( fat bastard) the bike likes to lift it's front and is hard to launch! (standard wheelbase)
As to prove my point to my firned.....
That evening I challenged my friend to a traffic light dual to prove to him that my bike I was not as slow as he claimed. I owned him 3 out of 3 on a best of 3 basis.....At least up until 3rd gear when he came past me like I was standing still! No good having all that power if you can't put it down!!
PS
A TL1000S is a killer bike from a 2nd gear roll so whatch out!
