I was wondering what your opinion on this car is:

First, I'd like to say I know nobody here is an expert by any means with the mazda's, much less an mx6, but I was wondering if someone here (particularly, the rob) could give me some advice on this car for sale. It's a 1994 (lighter weight than the '95+ due to no std. CC and a few other things) LS (v6 2.5L) 5-speed, with engine and transmission included in the sale. Engine runs, just has no starter or most of the other electronics installed (will be included in final sale) and some minor damge, for $600. That's not the part that worries me, since I can easily fix all the mechanical stuff, and the interior is already apart for me (something I was going to do first anyways to install fire suppression and a flip-switch ign + fuel kill) so I have less work ahead of me. What really worries me is the main part of unrepaired damage - pictured in #3. I'll take more pics of it and inspect the car in person first, but I was wondering whether or not you think that's very serious structural support for the vehicle, or if it's more cosmetic, and a simple weld job and some ribbing or other forms of basic support would be enough structural support for it to be safe (esp. with that being driver's side really worries me). I also intend to install a roll cage, which should help out more, but if that's a major structural beam or something like that, I might have some second thoughts.
Thanks!

btw - if it helps, that's the driver's side door jam that's pictured. As I said, if a little weld would fix it, that's no problem (I know several people with welders who could fix that) but if I'd need to replace a large chunk of that, or if god forbid, that's a part of the main structural support for crashes, the last thing I need is for the car to fold up like an accordian if (god forbid) I should crash. I might be desperate for a good road race car, but I'm not stupid enough to go out and risk my life by not driving a vehicle that is safe.
