Just recently got a MKII golf, nothing special, 1.8 8v, no mods, advanced the timing a bit and swiss cheesed the airbox (guy prior).

Anywho, I'm taking my girlfriend up one of the local mountains here for a little drive and right at the bottom I see a 16v Jetta (another MKII) behind me, so I push it a little and he is keeping up in the single lane. Sure enough, double lanes come up and we are both hammered down on the first bend.

First turn is a long almost hairpin and we are doing ~120km or so and I'm actually keeping up to him, which I never would have thought. Then the big uphill straight comes up and off we go again. Ended up about a fender infront of him when I decided to back it off because 160+ up the mountain seemed like a bad idea.

Turns out they were having a VW meet up at the top so I talked to him for a bit and waited while some other guys showed up, then went home. All in all it was a good start to see what my car could do.
