Doubt it's a fusible link, most likely a fuse. We always get people who come in with a dead radio and they "checked the fuses," then it usually takes me 6 seconds to find the blown fuse they must've already checked. Just cause one was blown doesn't mean it was the radio fuse.
Don't test the wires by grounding them, use a meter and actually test for ground on the black wire, 12v constant on yellow, and 12v on red with accessory. There's also a fuse on the back of the radio, which may have blown if you touched the red wire to ground with the key on and radio plugged in.
