I'm not sure if they are notifying defendants. Used to be they didn't and the first time you found out was when you went to court. I'm not sure about now. I think they have so many people scheduled for court, it is impractical for the courts to try and individually notify the defendants. Not to mention that many defendants don't have their most recent address or contact info in the system.
