hey, I'm an extreme newbie -

I have a 98' GT Jetta (2.0) and I want to eventually swap an engine with more power. My first instinct was to look into the VR6s (since VW carries those). Would it be wiser to look into other engines that may fit better or just to drop the whole engine swap thing all along and get a new car? Btw - I wouldn't be doing this, I'd be sending it to a mechanic so factor in mechanical fees also =/
