Superchargers are good, turbochargers are good. Combine them to create twincharging, and it's even better.
Note: You're aware that 4-second railcars use supercharged, 500CID V8's, right? Using your theory, that "Turbo is they way to go," maybe they should replace their supercharger with a turbocharger, and it'll drop them into the 2's, :p.
Like SE-Rage said, both are good are for different applications, scenarios, and/or desired effects.
