Austin: Great advice! If you're going to mail anything to the DMV (or IRS), make a copy (front and back) of everything you send before you send it. If you want to be super cautious, take your letter to the post office and get a return receipt and/or registration for the letter. It will cost an extra buck or two to send it, but you will get a postcard in the mail that is signed by the DMV which says that they received it.
