Battle of the Imports

Battle of the Imports

Ed "Ninja" Norrell's Point of View
It was another beautiful but scorching weekend in

Palmdale, California as the Street Racing team made

their way to the LA County Raceway.  I want to thank

Tom and Frank Choi for inviting us and letting us in.

This was my first Battle and although it was not as

crowded as I imagined it would be, I had a great time

none the less.

One of the best parts of the race had
to be the SI Challenge.  Super Street, Jun, Popular

Mechanics and Road and Track ( I think it was R&T) all

had their Jackson supercharged Civics battling it out,

one of them was all motor actually and the other 3

where supercharged.

The best race has to go to
Bergenholtz's CRX vs. Fast and Easy's 80's style boxy

civic.  That was a race down to the tenths of a second

with Bergenholtz coming out on top.  I also got to

give props out to the Lady Racer from Team Surf, with

her haulin ass, SUV.  Yes boys and girls, this chick

was kicking some major ass down the ¼ mile track.

The only complaint I have is that none of our Nor Cal
racers were down there putting it down for the Bay

Area.  Next Battle is in Feb. so I hope to see you
guys there. -Ed

Oliver's Point of View of Battle
Battle of the Imports was a great race atmosphere.  Most of the hardcore racers were there and it's great that the Quick 8 has been expanded to the Quick 16.  Once again, JoJo Callos won the Quick 16.  This is guy is unbelievable, he's won practically every race he's entered in.  He's the guy to beat, he is totally consistent.  Frank Choi pulled off another great

Battle.  This was one of the most organized races I have seen.  Battle has made such a great reputation that hardcore racers from across the country are making the trek to California to show off their power machines. -Oliver

Trouble on the Battle Field.  This eclipses runs 10 seconds on street tires.  Too bad he blew a hose and had to stop in the middle of his run
Ryan Smith's Point of View
This was my first Battle of the Imports.  I have to give a big thanks to Tom and Frank Choi for hooking us up.  The weather was nice and sunny and only about 85 degress.  Not bad for being in the middle of a desert.  We Left the bay area about 10 pm friday and arrived to our hotel about 4 am. To our liking there were a lot of import cars in the parking lot.  When I woke up at 8:30 and looked outside
the parking lots were barren, Everyone was already at battle.

We finally got to the pre-lims around 11 or so.  When your checking out the car images
page 1 and 2 are from Saturday.  Pages 3-8 are from Sunday.

After watching some great racing at battle we headed back to our hotel.  We got to hookup with the guys from  Group-A (Skunkworks) and kick it with their models who were very friendly and outgoing.  We also met Lisa Kubrow's race team.  Those guys can party ;).

Sunday at the races, I saw a lot of familiar faces at this event.  Mike Gonzaga was with his team and gave me open arms to watch battle from on top of his trailer.  Although Mikes team didn't make their goal of hitting 11's in their all motor car, they came pretty damn close with an 12.4.
I also ran into Antonio from Team Cipher, and James from Creative Image.

This is an event not to be missed! -Ryan
