With the first round of Formula D in Long Beach in the history books, drifting fanatics nationwide were in high anticipation for round two. The atmosphere in Atlanta was just insane. Never have we heard a crowd like this in Formula D history. Going into the top 16 everyone was on edge and the crowd was ecstatic.

The biggest story of the weekend was Hiromi Kajikuma who qualified for Top 32 and then went on to make tandem competition with 15 others. She marks the first girl in Formula D history to reach competition! Unfortunately, she fell short to Vaughn Gittin in the Team Falken Mustang, but put on a memorable performance nonetheless.

Chris Forsberg also came out in the new 350Z but seems to still be getting comfortable in it. On his second run against Calvin Wan he spun out, allowing Wan to advance. Hubert Young came out putting tons of smoke on the traffic and a wonderful show but qualified 16 th and was lined up against Daijiro Yoshihara, who qualified first. Yoshihara just dominated the runs advancing into the Top 8. Ken Gushi came out in the new Toyo Tires Mustang but found himself up against the unstoppable Tanner Foust in the AEM 350Z. Foust looked extremely comfortable with the AEM powered 350Z while Gushi seemed to still be getting adjusted in the new 'Stang.

The real battle in the Great 8 was the American rivalry of Samuel Hubinette and Vaughn Gittin Jr. The domestics ran together well and neither gave up an inch. The judges declared the win to Hubinette in the newly painted Viper. The number one qualifier Dai would face Hubinette in the Top 4 where the judges give Team Mopar and Sam the slight win in a well fought battle. Tanner took on Rhys Millen who wound up blowing a tire in the
2nd run on the last turn and connected with the wall.

Yoshihara and Millen would square away for 3rd place. The battle of the energy drinks found Yoshihara and Rockstar rising to the top to lock in 3rd place. Hubinette then went up against the determined Foust. Foust was just unstoppable this weekend as he lived up to the hype. He took the win after a one more time and stopped H binette's win record in Atlanta. This is Foust's first win in Formula D and a much deserved one - congrats to the entire AEM team!
